FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Inauguration Day march and vigil to be held in Tokyo TOKYO, Jan. 13 – Americans living in Japan will hold a series of events that are open to the public in connection with the U.S. presidential inauguration, including a march and a vigil outside the U.S. Embassy in Tokyo on Inauguration Day to thank outgoing President Barack Obama for his service and to thank our civil servants for the work they do for Americans living overseas. These events, coordinated by Democrats Abroad Japan, will be held in conjunction with others taking place across the world as a part of Democrats Abroad’s Global Week of Action. “As Americans overseas, we want to thank President Obama for his service not only as a leader at home, but also globally,” said Tom Schmid, chairman of Democrats Abroad Japan. “Many Americans and our friends from other nations are concerned that President Obama’s progressive policies will be reversed by the new administration and a Republ

There is a lot going on from the start of the year * Just a few of the key dates for upcoming events Jan 12 - 15 A Faerie Tale Jan 20: March and Vigil From Jan 27: new series of workshops for anyone interested in improving knowledge or skills, being a better volunteer, sharing information about nonprofit activities and/or learning more about nonprofits in Japan. Winter and spring workshops

Happy New Year! I will be initiating a series of nonprofit workshops this winter. Workshops will take place  in English and include 4 to 10 participants. These workshops will be for anyone interested in improving knowledge or skills, being a better volunteer, sharing information about nonprofit activities and/or learning more about nonprofits in Japan. Workshop series #1 Introduction to nonprofits series - Jan to Feb, 3 sessions. Friday nights, 6:30 ~ 8:30 Jan 27 – Intro to series, intro to Japanese nonprofit sector Feb 3 – Fundraising basics Feb 10 – Intro to Volunteer Management Fee: 5000yen per session or 12,000 yen for all 3 Registration deadline: Jan 14 Confirmation will be sent on Jan 15 to all who have signed up.
